Why Hypnosis?
For sleep related disorders:
Professional hypnotists estimate that one hour of hypnosis equals approximately 8 hours of sleep. In fact, most people sleep very soundly after hypnosis. Saying goodbye to insomnia can be a wonderful by-product of hypnotherapy! Often, even when addressing unrelated issues, after a few sessions insomnia simply vanishes. This is because the body is able to fully and deeply relax, and the mind is also able to let go. The result is easy, peaceful sleep.
For stress and anxiety:
Hypnosis is a natural and effective treatment for stress and anxiety. As clients come to understand their triggers, they learn to use their mind to control their responses. Once these controls are in place, they may even use it to lower their blood pressure! It is also effective as a treatment for anxiety disorders as a result of improved self-regulation. Control is the key here.
For fears and phobias:
Hypnosis allows the client to uncover the roots of their fears and phobias, and the hypnotherapist helps them safely rehearse potential scenarios during their sessions. By exploring and understanding their fears, the client is able to diffuse them. All of this is done gently and with utmost respect for the clients emotional well-being.
For pain management and relief:
In an NIH-funded pilot study, Harvard researchers found that broken bones healed faster with the help of hypnosis.
Doctors at Stanford Medical Clinic, and various hospitals are using hypnosis to sedate patients before surgery, soothe burn victims, and prepare women for childbirth.
For IBS and digestive disorders:
"New research based on treatment at the first NHS hospital hypnotherapy centre, in Manchester, shows that more than seven out of ten patients with the chronic condition improved as a result of the treatment.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common disorders seen by doctors and makes up half the workload of the average gastroenterologist. It is estimated that at any one time more than five million adults suffer with the condition which has symptoms including abdominal pain, bloated stomach, nausea, backache, lethargy, heartburn and indigestion.
Conventional treatments range from painkillers to antidepressants.
'I have never felt better, and I had been in pain for more than three years,' says Joyce Brearley, 62, one of the first patients to try the hypnotherapy."

For goal achievement:
Hypnosis can be used as a form of mental intention enabling the client to overcome their obstacles and reach their goals. Together with the hypnotherapist, goals are defined and elaborated. While in hypnotic trance, the client is led through series of vivid scenarios and visualizations. Because the client is in trance, the experience is intensified and more importantly the mind accepts the suggestions as reality. Repeat experiential sessions anchor the new concepts even further, and move the client into the new, desired state of being. Imagine the possibilities!
Because it feels good!:
Unlike traditional “talk therapy” which can sometimes take years to get to the core of issues, hypnotherapy works quickly to get to the root of issues, and help the client discard unproductive behaviour. This leaves the client with a sense of progress and accomplishment.
Many people report feeling refreshed and emotionally "lighter" after a session, and many people experience ‘Ah-Ha!’ moments as they connect the dots. These are cognitive shifts that happen as the subconscious grasps onto new perspectives. Clients are often anxious to repeat this empowering and pleasurable experience.
